“I have been writing songs for as long as I can remember. It used to be that I would doodle at the piano and find an interesting harmonic pattern, and then fit some arbitrary text to a tune coming from the harmony. These days, the text comes first and usually after I have been sleeping. A compulsion to write the text down propels me to the piano, and I usually get the text, melody and harmony finished in one sitting. The skills developing with this passion have resulted in various arrangements and productions” Frances Gill.
